ABC summer 2012 scrapbook pages!

They are done! Finito! Complete! :)

I already posted E's, but I'm going to share all of them here in case you missed hers and don't want to peruse the old posts for it. I'm happy with how they turned out and even happier to be moving on to first day of school layouts. Woo-hoo!

Shown in order from oldest to youngest:

Sometime next week, you can be watching for letter M! Happy Easter! :)

L is for...

... loads of laundry after a fun-filled spring break. Here we are on Palm Sunday, the final day of our spring break, and my husband and children just went out for a walk in the woods... the SNOWY woods. Yes, it is once again snowing. It is lovely, but really... come one spring!

Places to go that start with L:
*towns/cities starting with L
*any lake near your locale (Saylorville, Gray's, or Big Creek)
*libraries (they often have summer reading programs)
*La Mie Bakery & Restaurant
*Latin King

*Little Ceasars Pizza
*Little John's Burgers (which is owned by the parents of a friend of ours) :)
*Lone Star Steakhouse
*Long John Silvers
*Learning Post (for fun educational toys, school supplies, etc.)
*Ledges State Park near Boone
*Lilac Arboretum in Des Moines' Ewing Park (since it probably will be past bloom, find pics online)
*Little Ones Open Gym at the CLC on Tuesday mornings (if you need an indoor activity)
*Living History Farms
*Long Look Garden downtown on the Riverwalk
*Lowe's Build & Grow Workshops for children

Things to do that begin with L:
*love one another
*build with Legos
*draw loops with colors like lavender, lemon, lilac, lime green, and linen
*find local landmarks

*look for leaves or ladybugs in the lawn
*make lanterns/lights for the patio (fun paper lanterns aren't too difficult)
*play dates with friends like Landon, Lauren, Luca, Liam

*read books starting with L (The Little Engine That Could, The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear, Love You Forever)
*research what causes lightning
*take lessons (swimming, tennis, art. etc.)
*talk about different languages
*watch movies like Lady & the Tramp, The Land Before Time, The Lorax
*watch TV shows starting with L ("Leave It to Beaver", "Looney Tunes")
*wear leggings
*work on some landscaping

Foods that start with L:
Laffy Taffy
lasagna
lemonade
lemon bars
lemon poppy seed muffins
lettuce
licorice
Life cereal
Lifesavers
linguine
lunch meat

The two found L's we took pictures of during our photography summer were both in our home. The first is of our water pipes in our storage room, and the second is of part of our handrail on the stairs. My son had to lie down on the steps to take that one. ;)

Favorite L Bible verses:
"Listen my children to your father's instructions and do not forsake your mother's teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck." Proverbs 1:8-9
"Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor." Romans 12:10
"Give what you have to anyone who asks you for it; and when things are taken away from you, don't worry about getting them back. Treat others as you want them to treat you." Luke 6:30-31

I am almost finished with my boys' scrapbook pages for last summer! Hoping to finish up and post them sometime this week. Stay tuned for that and for the letter M. :)

K is for...

... kin with kids. Saturday was our double birthday party for B turning 3 and E turning 6. My sister's family visited, along with both sets of grandparents. It was a merry celebration!

Places to go that start with K:
*towns/cities starting with K
*find a radio or TV station (KDSM, KCCI, etc.) to tour
*Kavanaugh Art Gallery (just remind your little ones to keep their hands in their pockets)
*Kidman Tree Farm (they have some entertaining sights for children)
*kiddie parade (search around - you're likely to find one during any town's celebration)
*KinderMusic classes
*Kirkendall Public Library
*Kohl's (maybe pick up a $5 book or toy for charity)
*Karmelkorn Shoppe (in Valley West Mall)
*KFC
*Krispie Kreme
*Kum & Go (they actually have decent deli sandwiches)

Things to do that begin with K:
*kayaking (or just watch someone else do it)
*kickball
*fly kites
*playdates with Kenny, Kristin, Katie, Kathy, etc.
*talk about kindergarten if you have a child entering school in the fall
*read books starting with K (Knufflebunny by Mo Willems is a good one)
*watch movies like Kung Fu Panda or The Karate Kid
*listen to songs or artists starting with K ("Kitty Kat, Kitty Kat," "Koala Bear Diner," "Kickboard, Baby, Yeah," by Justin Roberts, or Kutless)
*watch TV shows like "Kipper" or "Kratts' Creatures"
*wear kelly green clothing, Keds, or khakis

Foods that start with K:
kabobs
kale chips
Kashi brand cereals
Keebler cookies
Kellogg's Special K or Rice Krispies cereals
Kentucky Fried Chicken
kettle corn
Key lime pie
kisses (Hershey's)
Kit Kat bars
kiwi
Kix
Klondike bars
kool-aid
kosher pickles
Kraft mac & cheese

Let me tell you, letter K is not an easy thing to happen upon when you are searching for found photography. We had to be quite creative in our search. This is the best we came up with... I had L zoom way in on a part of a sculpture at Jester Park.

And last, but not least is my favorite K Bible verse:
"Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies." Psalms 34:13

Letter L is up next!

ABC summer 2012 scrapbook layout

Once again, it's snowing and we're under a winter storm warning despite the fact that it's March 10th (my youngest's birthday!). Wanted to warm your day and show you the scrapbook pages I finished for E's ABC summer last year. I'll be working on L's next.

I thought it turned out cute! :) I'll be using the same layout, but different papers and embellishments for the boys' pages.

Letter K to come soon!
